Antique quilts

We were tasting wine this week in Napa and visited with a friend who recently received a gift of her grandmother's quilts!! She even has a memory of cuddling under one of them when she was a little girl with the chicken pox!! I had to take some pictures!!

I thought the 9 patch dates back to early 1900s! I'm going to put on a new binding on the beige one, which I'm still trying to identify! Any ideas??

I love how some of these blocks are really scrappy! Just my style!!

Remember The Supremes?

My dh Mark and I went to a fundraiser tonight where we were treated to an almost private concert with Mary Wilson of the original Supremes!! What a great evening we had!!

Sisters quilt show

The show was fantastic! The weather was perfect and we saw some amazing quilts. Sadly our time together this year  is coming to an end. It was an amazing time with wonderful women.  I'm sad to see everyone go but we are already planning next year's retreat!

What a gift!!

My friends are so generous and loving! I'm so fortunate to have them in my life!! They made me a most beautiful quilt!! Isn't it a treasure?? I will feel them around me whenever I lie under it!!

First walk of the retreat

RETREAT time!!

Well, it's that time of year again when my friends come to Sunriver for the week before the Sisters quilt show for some serious retreating!!  Sadly, Bonnie wasn't able to come this year.  Coming  tomorrow are my wonderful Wisconsin friends, Claire and Anne from Santa Cruz and of course Lori from Madras. There will be 7 of us! A perfect number!!

We'll be posting pictures all week long.  I should probably post a before and after picture of the living room and dining area.  

Oh, I forgot to mention that I was very sad to say good bye to my darlings who left early this morning to head back to SF.  We had such a wonderful time with them.  Ryan is growing up: he didn't want to sleep in the pack n play in my closet! Imagine that??!! He slept in a real bed!  So we moved Emma in the closet, which she loved. We went to bike rides, swam a lot and played cooking (Ryan's favorite play things are my blender, the toaster oven and the cuisinart)

Happy Fourth of July

There's nothing like July 4th!! We are still in Sunriver and will probably go to the barbecue at the Sunriver mall, complete with watermelon eating contest. One of our favorite places to go to is Goody's for ice cream!!

Enjoying the darlings

It's been a fabulous week in Sunriver with the darlings! They are so much fun! No sewing going on...that'll wait until next week when the gang arrives, starting Monday! 

Emma is moving everywhere, crawling up the stairs, even. Ryan is having a ball.  He wasn't interested in going in the water before this week so it's been a big breakthrough to have him be excited about wading into the pool.

Sunriver has wonderful bike paths so we've been taking walks with the kids several times a day, even taking the dogs out.

Enjoying the heat

We have the darlings up in Oregon this week as well as two of our kids. It's extremely hot and we've been going to the pool to try to cool off!!
