View out my window

It's definitely still winter in Wisconsin, in my eyes
! Here's the view out my window. It is in the 30s so I guess I can't complain. My friends are ready to wear shorts-- they think it's positively warm!!

Cleaning up for a GIVEAWAY!

My name is Randy and I am definitely a pack-rat!!
There, I said it!

It's so difficult for me to throw things away... I have piles here, there and everywhere.

I've been looking at different peoples' pictures of their sewing rooms and I think I'd be embarrassed to publish pictures of my sewing room.

So today I started "reorganizing", throwing out and generally clearing off the surfaces. WHEW.

I won't even show you a "before" picture!! NO NO NO.

So, anybody else interested in cleaning up??
I'll give away a book (or two!) to the quilter who has the best suggestions for organizing magazines, fabrics, patterns, books, UFOs... Or to whoever has the best stories about cleaning up!!

I admit it: I NEED HELP!!

Send me your ideas and stories by Friday...

25 patch done

I finished my 25-patch top and I'm loving it! It got kind of large--- almost king size! I had to put it on my driveway in order to get the picture.
The strips were cut at 2-1/2" and the blocks finish at 10". My sashing was cut at 2-1/2" also. The pattern is by Pat Riley of Life's A Stitch in Janesville, Wisconsin. The striped sashing fabric came from her shop too!!

Pressing question

I have always wondered about this:

Do you press your backings and tops before sending them to your machine quilters?

Do those machine quilters out there prefer to have their backings and tops pressed before being sent?  Or do you press them after they arrive anyway?

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
