Page-turners

Before I went to law school, I was actually an English teacher, although in those days there were no teaching jobs; hence law school.  But I was a lover of books then and still am.  I've decided to include in my blog posts tidbits about the books I've been reading, in case anybody out there is interested.  And, the truth is, I still love the old-fashioned real paper books!

I just finished "The Art of Fielding", which was named one of the 10 best books of 2011 by the NY Times, if that means anything to you.  It's a book that's part baseball, part life study. I loved the writing and did also enjoy the story. I highly recommend it.  Amazon's The Art of Fielding.

I am now reading "Tiger's Wife" and am also loving it. Don't you just LOVE finding a book that keeps your interest from the first page? I love page-turners!
The Tiger's Wife

I'm now going to head to bed and read some more of my book...the real, library version! Please feel free to share the books you're reading and recommend!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Sunday.
ps: aren't you impressed with the links I added? That's a first for me!! :-)

  1. I've got those on my book list. I started reading one that I was told about but just couldn't get into the story line. I'm reading a book for youth right now- Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. I know it is a good book when it makes me want to find out more about the subject matter. (Stalin!)

  2. Great job on the links, Randy. I am impressed. But I'm more impressed that you have been a teacher AND a lawyer.
Right now I am reading a book my son recommended because he knew I was so fascinated by the show "Hoarders". I couldn't keep watching it--too hard, but I am interested in the psychology of it (I started out in psychology before becoming an early childhood educator). The book is titled, "STUFF: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things." I read while I am on my exercise bike in the morning. It is fascinating!

  4. I like the old-fashioned books too. I always find more than I can check out every time I go to the library. I recommend "Crooked Letter Crooked Letter" by Tom Franklin and anything by Kate Atkinson, especially "Behind the Scenes at the Museum."

  5. Both of those are in my stack. Currently reading Sarah's Key and up next is Swamplandia. My stack is all made of paper but I'm getting an IPad soon for travel.

  6. I love to read. I usually have a book in the works. Usually I read mysteries or suspense novels. I will have to make a note of your recommendations.
