I recently participated in a swap with my Wisconsin friends and had enclosed a stamped self- addressed priority mail envelope with the package. My friend Debbie mailed the package back to me in October but it never came!! Imagine how upset we were that my 800 little 4-patches got lost!!!
About 2 months later, just after the holidays, the package showed up!! On the package was a sticker from the USPS telling me that my package was seized and searched because it was a suspected terrorist package! Seriously!! 4-patches!!
This is a new one for me!!
Oh, Randy, at least you go them. It is because stamps were used and most likely the weight of the package. Anything weighing over 13 oz. and stamps were used instead of getting the label at the post office, it is considered "target mail" and is pulled from the mail stream and checked. I am glad you did get them!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!! Who knew quilters could be considered such a dangerous bunch? Even if they're small, 800 patches is a lot of work! Glad they finally arrived. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you didn't even pull a few out to show us? Shame on you!! lol I'm so happy the finally came!!
ReplyDeleteHa Ha..... picture....picture!!!
DeleteThat is hysterical! I thought we were only a terror to our wallets. Glad you finally got them back--that is a lot of work to lose,
ReplyDeleteWho knew?
ReplyDeleteGlad they arrived. Would have been very sad to lose 800 4-patches. : (
sounds like the TSA tags when we fly...
ReplyDeleteAnd it took them 2 months to realize that little squares of fabric were no threat? At least you got them back.
ReplyDeleteAnd what on earth do they make me fill out those CN22 forms if they won't believe what I write on them anyway? customs are not my favourite club .. but I'm glad you got them in the end. I mean they could have been really cautios and just gotten rid of the ""dangerous" 4 patches.
ReplyDeletewhat a story this quilt will have to tell!!!! too funny
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see it and see what you name the quilt!
Kathie
I guess they were just doing their job and you eventually got them back. That would have been serious malfeasance (?) if you didn't receive them! Maybe they had to examine each & every one to make sure they weren't dangerous! Hee Hee!
ReplyDeleteGood to know that they are paying attention, but 2 months? Maybe the inspector was a quilter and she had to fondle your 4 patches!
ReplyDeleteWow - that's a new one on me too!!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in some post office back lot, there is probably a bomb squad right now blowing up some other poor quilter's handiwork. Glad you got them finally. Now you need to have fun with the name of the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's a new one on me too! Glad you finally received them!
ReplyDeleteI think the real reason is their 'curiosity' just gets the best of them and they JUST HAVE TO OPEN it to see
ReplyDeletewhat is inside!!! HA! Weren't they soooo surprised when they opened this one and saw all those funny little
fabric squares! I bet they were scratching their heads on this one!! HA!
Just glad they finally showed up!
Wow, 2 months to figure that out.........Glad you got your swap blocks.
ReplyDeleteSo much for priority mail!!!! Quilting terrorist, new way to think of ourselves. Don't mess with us, we have FOUR PATCHES!
ReplyDeleteWow! How strange...but how nice that you finally rec'd you little patches! I can't wait to see them! cheers, CW
ReplyDeleteJust think we pay these morons with our tax dollars!
ReplyDeleteWhat next TSA agents to harass us for mailing fabric to each other!!!
Enough of the big brother I say.
Happy sewing with your newly arrived 4 patches
I wonder what quilt blocks look like when x-rayed! Nice you didn't have to remake 800 four patches and I guess you should be grateful they didn't just toss it in the box and detonate it. Wonder if someone somewhere is still getting teased over their terrorist terrors.
