Then, as if I didn't have enough to do, I started the Temecula Marvelous Mini Monday little quilt. These are TINY! The centers are 2"; the entire block is all of 4"
In another weak moment, I signed up for the Primitive Gatherings summer block of the month, with the little wool applique in the middle. I made one block (mostly done) but I won't show you that until I have the center done. And it comes with their freebie, which is a small wool applique block. I need to sew those pieces down too. I seem to have a lot of weak moments, don't ya think?
I did a little gardening and picked the gladiolas that we planted this year. I also came home to these gorgeous roses. Mind you, I spend very little time in the garden for obvious reasons (I'm either babysitting or I'm out of town, right??). So these are the miracle children of my garden!
The colors are spectacular, I think!
Now for a giveaway!! I really do need to reduce the amount of quilting supplies I have since I'm truly never going to get to use all of them. So today I think I'll give away a box of scraps! I use only quilt-store quality fabrics and they vary between mostly civil war reproductions and brights. Kind of an eclectic mix. Large pieces, too. I'm happy to share them with you. Please, I'd prefer just to the US. The postage to Europe and Canada is prohibitive!

Your triangle blocks are all so pretty! I haven't caved for the triangles but I am tempted by the Temecula Marvelous Mini's, yours are so darn cute! Your miracle flowers are beautiful, they are hardy ones. Thanks for a chance to win some scraps. I love making scrappy quilts and some new scraps would make my little quilts more interesting. I also like to applique, so can always use more scraps there, too.
ReplyDeleteI love your blocks. They are all so bright and pleasant to look at. Especially #40 with the flowers and rainbow dots. I LOVE that one. It speaks of summer to me. Awesome flowers in your garden too. Mine are only starting to bloom. ;^)

I love your flowers! A bright yard is wonderful. I love using scraps in quilts. I follow Bonnie Hunter and her scrap user system, although mine isn't all cut up quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI like to make scrap quilts with scraps. Especially 9 patch, churn dash and 1/2 square triangle quilts. My baby quilt, made by my great grandmother was a scrap quilt of 2 1/2 inch squares.
ReplyDeleteI am a scrap lover but in UK so do not enter me for the draw make all sorts with scraps especially love small ones that I join in a random fashion and then makes the blocks all the same size and make into quilts

Scraps? I love scraps....especially of the civil war variety! I'm currently in the middle of making the Farmers Wife quilt blocks and I expect to begin making Dear Jane blocks before the end of summer. Needless to say, I could use lots of smallish pieces!

Your giveaway is the best kind of gift quilters could receive, scrappy lovelies! ReplyDeleteSomeone else's scraps are always more fun than my own! I see that I have resisted quite a few New projects by reading your post. For me that is a good thing. I would use the scraps for my Leader/Ender project with Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at your gladiolas ... when I was in first grade we lived in a Chicago neighborhood. There was an alley behind our house that was shared by a funeral home. They would toss out dying flowers (that still looked pretty good to a 6-year-old) in the alley trash. I would pick out a few nicer ones and take them to my mom and tell her I loved her. She always smiled and put them in a vase ... it's a good memory. I don't need the scraps right now ... thanks for the offer to be in your drawing. Your blocks are AMAZING ... you are much better with itty bitty than I am ~ hugs ~ Linda

ReplyDeleteOne person's scraps....... I love scraps. I save very small scraps. I think it is fun to have all that variety. For a wedding gift I gave a scrappy lone star quilt. Just as I began to work on it, she said that's my favorite color.....all the colors. It was, it had christmas, easter, halloween, buttons, bees, babies, B's; civil war, bright, pastel, batik, dots, plaids, stripes, floral, tone on tone......it was wonderful. yes Please, I'd LOVE your scraps and give them a great home.

ReplyDeleteScrappy quilts are the best quilts! The more different fabrics, the better. Please put my name in the hat for your drawing. I like to try to make quilts that look like antique quilts, and especially love substituting similar fabrics to get a "make-do" look. Thanks for blogging - it's always fun to see what you're up to!
ReplyDeleteI make hexies! Full ones & half-hexagon shapes. Scraps are the best for this & I have 2 projects going right now using civil war repros. This would add some wonderful variety to the project.

HSTs are so versatile, aren't they? Scraps are so useful and although I have lot on hand, it would be fun to get some different ones!
ReplyDeleteMorning, I usually use scraps to make most of my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilts or just making mindless blocks for therapy. As there are no quilters in family, they are amazed at all the hard work... lol... we won't tell them will we. Makes it fun to give away the quilts to all I see!
