A bit chilly

I wish I could explain where the time is going but it's whizzing by and I can't account for it.  UGH.  I know others are feeling the Covid Buzz as well.

I did get another sprig block finished and changed it up a bit by adding little circles at the bottom of the stems.  I thought they looked weird just being there.  I used the Karen Buckley little plastic circles to make them.  I would even call them almost perfect!

I also worked on something I found online that's supposed to be a table topper.  I am almost done with the piecing but am honestly thinking of using the blocks in a placemat instead!  Or something else.

I've also been thinking about replacing my very cheap (and not very comfortable) Target office chair I've been using for 10 years.  I'd read recommendations and when I was in the Bay Area a couple of weeks ago, I went into The Container Store and decided I liked their bungee chair so I ordered one.  And, of course, blue is the perfect color!

It also affords you a peak at my mess of a sewing area.  HEHEHE

My dh liked the chair so much, I ordered another one (with arms this time) and I'll give him my blue one.

I did go out snow shoeing again this week and here's an idea of the vastness of the forest, snow and open feeling.  It hadn't snowed in over a week so no snow on the trees but still amazing nevertheless.

In another example of how things are so upside down this year, we decided to put up outside lights.  Mind you, we are Jewish and we have NEVER had outside lights.  But I figured this year is so messed up anyway, why not go all out?  I'm not sure a video will work but I'm going to give it a try.

  1. I love your snow - and snow shoeing sounds fun although I have never done it and never have snow here (rarely) to try it out (north central Arkansas) - we plan to put our Xmas decorations up this weekend - and even though you are Jewish - why not for outside lights they really add a festive mood to the season - and the year is flying by for me too even though we have spent so much time at home. I make my circles the same method and have for years

  2. Those circles do add to the design and it is so colorful! I love the pinwheels and tree idea, so cute. Where did you find the pattern? Your chair looks comfy, you definitely need a comfy chair for sewing. Lights sound like a cheerful addition to the holidays. You could use blue and white ones. We have a neighbor who puts up just blue lights on his house and he is Jewish. It just looks happy! Enjoy!

  4. Your block looks good! I also thought that particular sprigs block looked a bit "empty" in the middle and I've been thinking about putting a heart in the center of mine. Agree - time seems really warped this year!

  5. I feel like my days are so slow but the weeks fly by somehow. I like your term Covid Buzz. Nice variation on the sprigs blocks, and yes I would say perfect circles! Tiny little pinwheels, cute. Your chair looks awesome! And the glimpse of your sewing space is fun - creative warmth.

  6. Nice sprig block, Randy. Circles do look great. Did you see the Applipops by the Sentimental Stitcher? I bought a set and can't wait to try them out. Take care.

  7. Great job on the Sprig block. I love the addition of the circles. Your 3D pinwheels look like fun. Looking forward to see more of that project. I love snow shoeing but haven't done it in years. I should invest in another pair and get hubby to come along. It's always more fun when you have a friend along. Really, outside lights? I haven't put up lights (or tree, or anything else for that matter) for ages and I was born Catholic. You're funny and I love you like that. You're perfect just the way you are. Enjoy! ;^)

  12. I am not familiar with the original design for the "sprig" block, but I think it could look unfinished without your added circles.
The dimensional pinwheels with the trees will be very cute!
Makes such a difference to have a comfortable sewing chair. Haven't tried a bungee style. Looks comfy.
I think the outside lights will invite some cheer to what has been a difficult year.
