Time for a change and a giveaway

You will no doubt notice the change of header on my blog--of course it's completely the wrong size but I wanted to try to change it.

Thanks to Janet Olson for helping me even get this far~  Now I need to figure out how to resize the picture.  I remember doing it originally but that's a long-gone memory.

If you know how to resize a picture on a blog, PLEASE give me your email address so I can pick your brain.

Now for the fun part!!  I was cleaning my sewing room here at the cabin and realized I have TWO of the QCR Mini quick curve rulers.  I bought it twice (I have to admit that I haven't used either one!)

If you're interested in owning this ruler, please leave me a comment and tell me what's the best thing you've gained throughout this quarantine, shelter in place, period.  I have found many "silver linings" during this period and I'm curious to hear yours.

I'll draw a winner on Tuesday.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend.

  1. I think one of the big things for me is it is okay to slow down and be still. I looked up the ruler and looks interesting.

  2. I resize photos all the time for entries. Shoot me an email and I will try to help you.

I would love to have this ruler. I have the large size. There is a small pattern I want to try out.

Despite the disappointment of several travel jobs being cancelled, especially Spring Market, I have had all the time I need to create. When travel opens up again, I will be ready but will plan more time at home than previously.

  3. Since March 15 I have been working at home and I enjoy it although it is harder to connect with my coworkers. It is a good test for retirement and I think my husband and I will do just fine! One thing I have had reinforced is that I need quiet time and an unbusy life in order to feel my best.

I really like the quilt in your header. The fan quilting pattern is one of my favourites.

  4. I did my Spring cleaning quite early, read a lot and spent more time training the new puppy. Jmikebalou (at) aol (dot) com

  5. Time with my daughter! Since the end of March, she has been sheltering here with us. We’ve spent so much time just taking and quilting together. It’s been wonderful!

  6. I would LOVE to win your QCR!! I bought one of the patterns, but neglected to buy my own ruler (as my good friend was buying one that we could share.) Sharing isn't working out very well, at the moment. Thanks for offering a chance to those of us who are interested in it!

  7. woo hoo you did it. Your header looks great. What blocks do you make with the curved ruler?
    Look interesting.
Hmm best thing happening at home. Being with my family and above all quilting. Oh and wine.

  10. Good for you figuring out how to change your header--maybe there is hope for me too--lol! I've always wanted to make the mini pumpkin pattern but was too frugal to purchase the ruler, so I would love to be added to your give away. The best thing happening around my home is having the time to plan out some projects and being able to finally accomplish them.

  11. I was furloughed for a month, so spent a lot of time sorting through things -- was wonderful!! Also, I was able to spend lots of time w our new puppy. And, I am now really looking forward to retirement next year!!

  13. The best thing about this time has been enjoying the beauty of springtime on our daily walks around the neighborhood. Usually I am too busy to really notice much of it.

  14. I was thinking of changing up my blog as well...looks like you've gotten waaaaaay further along with yours than i did! :-)
I've gained a renewed appreciation for the simple life and living with less... it sure is peaceful! :-)
Please do not enter my name in the giveaway....I've only just pulled fabric for the "Everything Grows With Love" pattern you gifted me last year! ;-)

  15. Hmmm, a few pounds. Maybe that's not the best thing I've gained. I have been able to work on some UFOs, and that has felt so good! Oh, but don't include me in the giveaway--I think I have one of those somewhere.

  16. My silver lining is stillness and quiet, things I long for all while maintaining relationships - of course via long distance. We have so much to be thankful for.

  19. I found that I am enjoying the days of staying home more than I thought I would. Now, I am getting out more often. I have never done much curved sewing, and my friend has made some quilts with curves that I just love and I would like to try it! I have been sewing up a storm and finished 3 quilts - 1 is queen size and 2 are large-ish lap quilts.
