Can I hear a big WOOHOO!!

Wendy  Reed (constantquilter) is not only a great friend, but she's quite the motivator!!  She "runs" the monthly minis and I feel compelled to get at least SOMETHING done by the end of the month.

While this isn't a big deal, I did get a binding put onto a quilt that's been sitting in my closet for months!!

This will no doubt be a donation quilt although not to the kid's group.  Too dark and boring!! :-))

Have I told you the story about my old Bernina that's been in the shop for two months?  I have an 1130 and something went wrong with the bobbin mechanism two months ago.  I took it in to the local repair shop in Bend and they told me they'd order the part.  Fast forward to two months and they realized they couldn't get the part so I could junk the machine, if I wanted.

Gotta love the internet.  I went onto the Bernina Vintage Machines Facebook group and posted that I was looking for a particular part and within half an hour I had two people offering me the part!

I showed you that awesome selvage the other day?  Well now I'm on a selvage mission.  Here is my pile of selvages here in Central Oregon.  Forget about the huge bags in California!
They are very much like scraps... they multiply!  I started sorting them and still didn't make a dent.

My next post is going to be a study of selvages.  Tune in!!

  1. Great job finishing your "Many Trips", Randy!
Oh, my goodness, you are a serious selvedge collector! I usually pass mine on to someone else when I get a few. I have never seen that many selvedges together that weren't attached to yardage. Some of them have some really clever and fun designs. I look forward to seeing what you share on the next post.

  5. Super finish!! And, I am really curious about those selvages. I have been saving them for years and always end up giving them away to someone who will actually use them. Catch you later!

  6. I'm so glad you were able to find the part you needed for your machine. It's ridiculous that a shop would tell you to junk it. I have bags of selvages that I've never done a thing with, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with yours. Love your scrappy trip quilt!

  7. Great finish on Many Trips, which is anything but boring! I also save selvedges, but usually end up giving them away. Good luck with your machine!

  8. Wendy is a wonderful motivator and your quilt is wonderful. If you donate it, someone will enjoy it. I can't believe the shop would tell you to junk it. Bernina, I'm sure, would hate to know their repair people were saying that, but glad you solved the problem..

  10. Great to know you were able to find the part you needed. Junking a perfectly good sewing machine constitutes fighting words in a sewist's world!

  12. Wendy is great in person and as a blogger! Your quilt is lovely for donation and it's nice you finished it! I'm so glad you found your Bernina part. I hope you get more years out of your Bernina! My first machine was a used 1978 Minimatic given to me by my Grandma. And I inherited her 830 Record. I brought my new 475QE to Japan and I really love it. I'm always on the verge of quitting Facebook but I love the Bernina groups! I really need to start paying more attention to selvages!
