I have a confession....

Okay, it's possible that I'm just getting old and having trouble remembering everything. In fact, I'm sure that's true. BUT, has anyone found it hard to remember where they've parked their car at the grocery store (or some other shopping area)???  That is happening to me frequently these days at the grocery store. Maybe the parking lot is so nondescript that it's hard to distinguish one row from another. I mean, sometimes I'll look around and have absolutely NO IDEA where my car is. One time I had to have a friend drive me around looking for my car. We're not talking about the airport parking lot (which is immense), folks. Just the grocery store. OMG.

My idea (when I can remember) is to make a mental note of where I parked so I'll be able to find my car when I come out (assuming I can remember which door I came in).

There must be an app for that, isn't there?? vbg

Hope everyone is having a great Friday.
Love to you all,
Randy

  2. I bought myself an automatic car starter -- it helps find my car in the dark.

  3. I have only had that happen a handful of times...but I found it very scary. My Gma had almost no sense of direction and her solution to the 'finding the car' problem was to put a very flamboyant decoration on her car antenna. It worked!

    1. And now the cars do not have antenna and I'm back to leaving the car in the same spot every time I go to the store!

      Happy Sewing :0)

  4. I was wandering around looking for my car yesterday too! I try hitting the lock button because after the 3rd click it makes a noise to verify the car is locked, so if I'm close, that has helped! You must have been day dreaming about quilts or something else :-)

  5. I have a friend who says when these little moments happen it is because our hard drives are full. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. LOL

  6. I did that quite often myself when going to walmart. I finally decided I would always pull down a certain row and park there. worked for me.

  7. One of my favorite aunts used to leave her (non-special) large coffee cup on top of her car to help signal her eye as she looked around the area!

  8. what`s worse is when you park your car in the morning at work and then when it is time to leave you forget! you retrace your steps in the morning standing in the middle of the garage while others that KNOW you, know what happened cause they have done it too at some point,

  9. Where ever I go, I always park in the same area.....at the mall, grocery store, Walmart, cuz I used to have this happen a LOT! Hubby thinks I'm crazy now, cuz I park at the end of the mall, no matter what store I planned on going to, so most times I end up walking the entire length, but I can always remember where it's at now!

You are totally NOT alone on this one! :o)

  10. I use the same grocery store and go in the same entrance and park in nearly the same spot EVERYTIME.....or else I've be lost.
I also avoid the mall if at all possible. My family laughs at me
because I have no internal GPS so this is a must for me.

And I have always had to do this way before I was a grandma :0)

Happy Sewing and Happy Mother's day

  11. Just happened to me today. But, I have figured out that is why I have a "panic" button on my key fob. I can hear where my car is!

  12. I operate kind of like Regan--I try to park in the same general vicinity of a parking lot, no matter which store it is. When I exit a store I automatically turn left and if I can't remember my specific spot, I just start looking along the top half of the rows. It works for me. : )
If the parking lot has those row markers, just take a photo of it as you enter the store.

  13. I constantly am on the look out for my bicycle can't ever remember what stand I chained it to ... as for cars, I gave up asking my mum where she park the car instead I ask her now from what direction she got home (lef, right, behind) that gives the clue to the most likely side roads to go looking. She does the same - retracing her steps ... very important is to know your number plate so you dont try to open a stranger's car ...

  14. I've always had this problem! I have figured out I must be more aware and make a mental note of where I am parked when I exit my car. If my 22 year old daughter is with me and I "test" her by saying, where did we park? I notice she has no clue either especially if we were talking as we exited the car. So I'm not sure it is a age thing at all!

  15. I always park in the same row. That way I don't even have to think about it. My daughter laughed when I told her that I did this. Then one day, she couldn't remember where she parked, so she does it now too. I really works!!

  16. One time, I was ready to call the police to report our car was stolen. It was in a Kohl's parking lot. I discovered that I had gone out the wrong side of the store from where I went in. The parking lots on both sides looked identical. And in the store, the areas around the doors were very much alike. A panic feeling. I see an advertisement on tv every now and then for a little device you talk into and push a button and it plays back what you have just said. Shows a person recording where they have parked so they can remember later.

  17. I try to be very aware when I park, and really pay attention and think about it (instead of being in automatic mode). It is a horrible feeling to leave a store and not know where you parked! So glad to hear that I'm not alone!

  18. If I can't find it, I set off the emergency alert on the truck. Lights flash and horn goes off. It really does help.

  19. I usually try and park in the same general area so that I at least know where to start looking. Only problem with the poanic button is that you have to be close to the car for it to go off. ;) Guess how I know that?

  20. Whenever I "lose" my car I resort to hitting the "panic" button on my key ring ... yes, I know it's obnoxious but it lets me at least HEAR if my car is nearby. You are NOT alone, Randy ... too much multi-tasking can stress you out and result in memory-shortouts!

  21. Randy, I agree with whomever above said. "Your hard drives are full." This only happens once in awhile, right, slow down take a breather. You have a darling "Grand" and other family committements and us friends whom you are keeping all going with your FWS blocks. Patricia G
