I LOVE The French General

My friend Debbie Dodge knows how much I LOVE the French General fabric line. When she and DarLynn came to Sunriver a couple of weeks ago, Debbie brought along a beautiful block she made (but wasn't happy with...she's a founding member of the Overachievers Club from Wisconsin) from The Country Inn book.  I absolutely LOVE it. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it. I thought you'd enjoy it.

I'm not likely to make the whole quilt and I'm afraid it'd be too large to be the center of a medallion quilt. Maybe a wallhanging??

Debbie does the most amazing appliqué you can imagine. I am in awe of her talents.

Impressive, hunh??

Have a great Saturday!
Love to you all,
Randy

  1. What a beautiful block! I can definitely see it as a wallhanging. And now I'm going to have to buy that book - thanks for sharing!

  7. Photos don't give a great idea of size--how big is it? It looks like it would make a good medallion center, but I have no concept of the size. It would be a great wall hanging, too. What a great "orphan block" for your collection! vbg

  8. The problem with French General fabrics is that you want them ALL in EVERY colorway ... love, love, love them! Nice block ... I don't think it's too big for a center of a quilt at all!

  9. Thelma at Cupcakes and Daisies did a quilt with this as one of an entire set of blocks.

It's not something I would do, but it makes a very pretty quilt!

  10. I think it would make a great medallion quilt. The scale of the applique is so large I think it would easily support a couple more large borders to make a decent sized bed quilt. But you know how I love medallion quilts, cheers, cw

  12. I love it too! How big is it, is your grid two inches? I think it would be beautiful right in the center of a medalion quilt on my queen sized bed!! LOL!
