Can never have too many bags

I've been wanting to make a particular bag with a kit I got a while ago in Wisconsin. Finally tackled it but sweated over it quite a bit.
Maybe it's the lawyer in me but have you ever thought that the people who write instructions must not be native English speakers!!!

Here is the pattern:

First portion:

Completed:

All the fabrics are sewing related!!

My dh and I spent a night in SF this week and I had to take a picture of the Bay Bridge!  Everyone is getting crazy for the super bowl! I think these lights are so dramatic!

  1. Wonderful bag you have made; love the fabrics. The front looks extra special with the main focus fabric print. You did a great job.

  2. As a bag lover I have made many and I found certain pattern writers do so in 'double dutch'. On many occasions I've thrown the pattern out and put the pieces together myself. That's a great bag you have.

  3. I am positive that whoever wrote the instructions for one of my sewing machines is not a native English speaking individual!
That is such a pretty bag, Randy! Glad you worked it out.

  6. I love bags and did many. You did an excellent job on yours. I love the front panel. Your second bag will be easier to assemble now that you have worked out the pattern. (VBG) Enjoy! ;^)

  7. So I read that - "My dh and I spent the night in SF (Santa Fe.....)" and thought, "golly I wish I'd known"; since you would have been in and out of ABQ.....however....on further inspection.....the photo.....yah....nothing like that around here. At any rate, I hope you had fun.

  8. Your bag looks great, and I especially like the panel.
I've made only one bag, and it was a struggle. Line after line of the instructions were confusing, imprecise, and had to be interpreted. Thank goodness for helpful illustrations.

  9. I know what you mean regarding bags! I am thinking about making a selvedge strip bag. SF is so beautiful! I love the GG bridge and we walked across it a few years ago. What a view!!! I'm working on my Bullseye blocks!

  10. You are so right! I think I might have to start giving some of mine away though. And I totally agree about the directions. I get a kick out of how some instructions are written. It's as if they are writing it for the Martian invasion because it certainly makes little sense to me. Having a great time with my bullseyes!

  11. This is really pretty. Glad you persevered despite the unclear directions. I do think it is hard to write directions that will be clear to everyone else because others have different logic, different regional language, etc., especially when you are talking about things that are somewhat complicated.
