I'm working on the Just Takes 2 red/white quilt and, once again, the block they've chosen could take forever-- a hand pieced compass! I'm not much of a hand piecer-- I rarely hand sew my bindings down. So I opted for a Dresden plate block instead--- got a chance to try the ruler I'm sending to Missy.
I will hand sew the center though!
Good Save!! I love Dresdens anyway and compasses (or is it compassi??) look very finicky to sew....Reds are lovely...Julierose
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the block I sent you the photo of! And you ahve a ruler for it!! No fair!!
ReplyDeleteI now have another use for the ruler! How fun.
ReplyDeleteI considered the Just Take 2 blocks but thought they were way over my head. They are beautiful though...I'll just enjoy them through you! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the hand sewing. In fact, I often pay a friend to sew down my bindings. : )
ReplyDeleteYour Dresden Plate is looking good!
I've seen several projects lately made with that Dresden plate ruler, and I was all hot and bothered to find one and buy it. But I slowed down, took a couple deep breaths, and checked my two boxes of specialty rulers. Yes, there was a Dresden plate ruler at the bottom of box #2. Specialty rulers are wonderful, especially if you use them. (hanging my head in guilty shame).
ReplyDeleteLove your red/white block. It's so precise!
Great choice. I really love your red dresden.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block! I'm like you.....I avoid hand piecing if possible! I love my Dresden ruler.
