Motivated to clean and GIVEAWAY

Since my mom has been ill and I'm not optimistic that she'll be back at her home any time soon, I've taken to cleaning up her place.  Is it the elderly who are terrible housekeepers? I mean, EEEW!  Possibly my mom was never a great housecleaner, but her house is in need of some serious cleaning. VBG. And throwing away of stuff she will never need.

It makes me wonder, though, what would someone say about MY house if they came in and found piles and piles of STUFF everywhere?? And I don't think I'm a pack-rat... Well, it has motivated me to get rid of stuff from my house.  Janet O. is doing her farmer's wife quilt in Christmas fabrics and I offered to share (dump!) my Christmas fabrics with her.

So, one half is going to Janet and the other half is up for grabs!! Want yards and yards of Christmas/winter fabrics?  Send me your email with a comment and I'll draw a winner on Friday morning.

Here's what they look like:

And I'm just starting to get rid of stuff. I'm vowing to give away SOMETHING every week. Next week? BOOKS!! Stay tuned!!!

Love to you all,
Randy

  4. I just helped a friend whos mother passed away. She didn't quilt, so no fabric but I got a bunch of things sewing related, needles, buttons, lace, etc. I've been thinking about cleaning out things I don't use, too. It gets you to thinking. Thanks for the chance to win some Christmas fabrics!

  5. I'm always in awe when I'm watching the crime shows, how they are able to find fingerprints of the killers in a house.......cuz if they came into mine, they'd be hardpressed to find a surface without stuff piled on it! HA! Pack rat....maybe! Never put stuff away.....yep! Guess I should be sorting and giving away too, huh?

  12. I look at all the STUFF in my house and know it's time to start getting serious about it... passing things along, donate things, toss things, etc. I don't want my kids to have to deal with all this STUFF!

  17. Randy, a generous offer to be sure, I have posted your giveaway on my blog today.
My mother lives with me and I have to get a family member to take her visiting before I can get to the rooting out of the junk that accumulates. Good for you. I too am de-stashing and giving to others is a great feeling.

  19. Good for you, getting rid of what you don't need. I wish I could do that. Christmas fabrics don't stand a chance around here. Our guild makes Christmas stockings for nursing home patients, and we can always use more fabrics.
Thank you for the give-away contest.

  25. I don't have any Christmas fabrics, so I would love to inherit this stash! I think part of the problem with the elderly not cleaning well is that they can't see very well!

  26. Would love to take that fabric off your hand. Been debating starting your Farmer's Wife quilt along, have the book and want to do it, just need to get motivated. Again thanks for the opportunity to enter and follow you. Robert, in northern Iowa.

  31. The bag lady sent me here. I love the Christmas fabrics. But, I think that too much to ship to me. Anyway, wish your mom get well soon..

  32. Oh how generous of you! I don't collect those fabrics but they sure would be helpful in my "stockings for soldiers" project. I make stockings to pass out to volunteers, they fill them with gifts, then we ship them off to soldiers serving overseas.

  34. It's really hard going thru your parents things isn't it? It sure has made me look at the things I have and wonder why I'm keeping them. I don't think my house would pass the white glove test but then my son is not the best housekeeper so I really don't have to worry about that! :) Your Mom might surprise you and recover enough to get back home. I'll keep you both in my prayers.

  35. The fabrics would be lovely for a Christmas tree skirt that I want to make for my son's family.
There's so many memories in some of my accumulations that it's been hard for me to part with them. Maybe someday.
