Sewing, at least during naps!

I managed to sneak in a little sewing today during nap time (and I didn't need a nap today!!). I didn't even bring any sewing projects along but had this in the house.
This is basically a square in a square but was based on a pattern called Fit to be Square by Open Gate. I love brown and blue together!

A good excuse

I'm not complaining but I've been babysitting for the two darlings full time for the past week and a half.  So barely any time for sewing or blogging, for that matter.

We did drive with them up to Sunriver for a week with just Mark and I and the two darlings.  How special will that be ??!!!  It's camp with Nana and Papa next week!

I will try to send some pictures of some things I've done or seen.

Hope everyone is enjoying the end of summer.  When I was last up in Sunriver in July for my quilting retreat, it was sunny and hot every day.  Today is didn't reach 60 and it rained and thundered.  Summer is coming to an end in Central Oregon already.  We'll be putting away all the patio furniture when we leave.
:-(

Love to you all,
Randy

I'm still here

I've been quiet lately, mostly because of taking care of the darlings! I have done some sewing and I wanted to show you what I've been doing. This is a pattern called "bullseye". I loved a quilt that Lori brought to Sunriver and apparently my friends Pat Riley and Debbie Dodge have been making this pattern for years! Who knew!!???

It's really pretty simple! I start with a 9" background. Onto that I sew  7", 5-1/2" and 3-1/2" circles. I cut out the excess fabric from the back between each new circle.

Then I cut them into quarters and mix them up and resew them. After washing, they will have a tattered look! Great way to use up scraps or fabric you don't love anymore!!

Done is good, Part II

I tried to edit my original post and inadvertently deleted everything so here it goes again:

I did this Cotton Club block of the month last year (approximately 5 blocks/month) and finally finished it yesterday.  I love it. I think the setting is very unusual and I especially love the border fabric!! I enjoy mitering corners so I had a good time working these 4 corners just so!!
