GREAT book!

Before I was a lawyer, I was an English teacher. So I've always been a real lover of books.  I am a huge supporter of my local library (as in always owing overdue fines!) and still love REAL books.  I also like to listen to books in my car since I do a lot of driving. I did buy a Kindle, as you know, too.

I just finished a book I loved. I mean loved every single word.  It's by Anna Quindlen who is one of my all-time favorite writers.  I've loved all her books.  This one particularly resonated for me about getting older, about separating from our kids, about the value of friends, about loss, about life.  I want to recommend it to you.  I was particularly lucky in that I got it on cd for my car and it was actually read by the author herself, which made it even more special.

If you like reading, I hope you will enjoy Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake.

Let me know what you think.

Love to you all,
Randy

  1. Thank you for the recommendation. I've just added to my hold list at the library. Unfortunately I'm #30 on the list so it will be a while.

  2. Sadly, my little unincorporated community is not welcome to use the nearby city library. I occasionally haunt the used book stores. I'll keep my eye out for this one!

  3. I love reading (also am a former English teacher) but I've let that slide lately. I have a short list of books to read, mainly with names of authors I saw interviewed on TV. Anna Q and her book is on my short list. I saw her on TV a few weeks ago, and as I remember, she was charming, and her book make my list. Thanks for the recommendation. Her book just went to the top of my list, ahead of "Mrs. Kennedy and Me."

  4. If you have started any more blocks, I cannot find them. When I go under the Sow a long, I am unable to get to any blocks. It only takes me a create a blog page. What am I doing wrong, or am I. Thanks, Love that you are doing this for all of us.

  5. I love this author, she's easy to read and really conveys her 'pictures' well. You can 'see' what she means. I've read several of her other books. One True Thing is so good and so heart-breaking at the same time. Thanks for recommending the new one!
