Great first Friday night

Bonnie and I met Lori at Quiltworks quilt shop in Bend on Friday night for the First Friday event they hold. They showcase a quilter and have a reception with door prizes. Well, I think I totally scored the best door prize: the Quiltmania book Feathering Your Nest!! Woohoo!!

I also bought one fq (what restraint!) of something totally different from what I usually am attracted to:

Well I had to play with this new fabric right away and used it in a block that I've been wanting to make. I think it's perfect and now I want to make more of these blocks using large scale prints.

Do you see the rabbits and birds?? I am tempted to stop off at the store on the way to the airport (to reluctantly drop off Bonnie for her flight to Portland)  and buy more of this really unusual fabric. We were trying to figure if it's a Kaffe Fasset fabric...

I am heading home tomorrow... Probably won't be sewing for a few days. We've had a most amazing week together here in beautiful (now smoky) Central Oregon.
It has been really special!! I'm so lucky!! Life is good!

  1. I am pretty sure this is Tula Pink fabric. Maybe Fox Field or something close to that? I saw some at a shop in Georgia last week, and it was lovely.

    1. Tula Pink was my guess too. She puts animals in her fabric designs.

  2. A wonderful door prize!! I don't usually use large scale fabrics in my quilts, but I really love how your block turned out. I hope you and Bonnie can get together again soon.
