I went to my friend Claire's house yesterday for a morning of sewing. I brought along my yellow strings and am proud to say that I finished all 72 blocks! But, guess what? I still had a huge pile of strips left!! OMG. I thought I'd make a dent in the pile, but NO....
Today's project is the quarter square triangles. I'm using greens, ranging from dark pine green to lime green! I like a lot of variety. Unfortunately I've only done about 50...quite a few more.
Off to the grocery store to get food for dinner and a walk with Max---then back to work! Loving this mystery!!
Hope everyone is having a great week. What is everyone working on??
Isn't it amazing how much we can do with strings and scraps?!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have that much yellow in my whole stash, let alone strings!
ReplyDeleteTrying to get the quilt I made my daughter and SIL for Christmas bound, but there hasn't been sewing time for a few days. Not making any progress.
I was working on week 2 last night as well.....I love making string blocks! And you're right....it doesn't make a dent in that bin! In fact, I think those strings are multiplying in there! lol
ReplyDeleteI am working on quilting some quilts for pay from friends. I think that when you dig into strings they actually reproduce. The same thing happened with my blues. As for the mystery I had time to get caught up this week. Hope the next part is bigger pieces and uses the next color.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a string quilt for donation to Children's Hospital. And I'm making a shirt for my 3 year old GS. I keep thinking of things to make and I need to get ready for a month long trip to visit kids for Christmas. I hope to get some sewing done on my Gone to Texas quilt (while I'm gone to Arkansas & Florida). Hee Hee! I'm thinking about the mystery quilt - we'll see.
ReplyDeleteYou really are making progress on the mystery. Those small string blocks are so cute. I guess you will have to make another string quilt to use up more yellow.
ReplyDeleteHappy stitching
Cute cute cute! Your color way is going to be great!
ReplyDelete...lol....oh I know, my piles always seam to multiply over night!!!
