Pacific Intl Quilt Festival, Part I

Last weekend was the most fabulous quilt show held nearby my house.  It is run by the Mancuso group and includes great quilts and, of course, quite a few vendors!!! Always something to buy.

I have taken some pictures to show you from the show, for your enjoyment.

This was an award winner. It's all hand appliquéd and the machine quilting is absolutely superb!

I thought this was one of the most interesting quilts I saw.  The quilter was commemorating her friendships with several women with a trip to a fictional town.  This is the place they "went to."

Believe it or not, this is a Dear Jane quilt, done in one Kaffe Fasset fabric and a "solid" background.  I thought the setting was extremely interesting, not to mention the machine quilting!! Can you see the "9 patches" as setting blocks? They are done by machine quilting!!

This is another award winner: hand appliqué and hand quilting!! Quite beautiful.

This week I'm again staying with my daughter helping out with the baby.  In fact, they visited last weekend and she left the darling Emma with us!! The good news is I'm getting lots of baby and Ryan time. The bad news is I'm completely unable to do any sewing.

So regrettably, NO SOW-A-LONG blocks this week. I'm terribly sorry. I will hope to get them by the end of the week. Please don't think I'm a flake. I'm the doting Nana instead...

Love to you all,
Randy, in absolutely gorgeous San Francisco

  1. That first quilt is amazing!! Looks like a great show!

  2. Grandbaby time takes precedence.

  3. Beautiful quilts....thanks for sharing them!

  4. Such amazing quilts!
YOU ARE NOT A FLAKE! You are a grandma! And personally, I can use another week to get caught up, so thank you!! : )

  5. Amazing quilts ... thanks for sharing ... can't wait to see more. NEVER EVER apologize for Grandma time ... THAT is more important than anything else! Enjoy them to bits!!

  6. I love that Dear Jane quilt - and the quilting looks amazing. Hope you are having a great time with the kids! I haven't made my last 3 blocks, so I'm in no rush for the next three!

  7. I'm all caught up, but kids grow up way to fast and you have to enjoy those moments now--you can always quilt/piece later. I really enjoyed the quilt pictures you posted. Thanks for all you do and have a wonderful grandma time! Amy in Wisconsin

  8. Randy,
Thanks so much for the heads up, I am glad that you are able to enjoy
your grands, and not telling us of some other misfortune, you have had your
installment in that department, and need no more. This is a perfectly
GREAT reason to have our curiosity mount, to see what wonderful things you plan to share with us. So I for one, will be patient, and be happy to know that you are doing the things that you enjoy, and these are the times that you will always have, to reflect on. Thanks, as always for all that you do for all of us.

  9. Doting Nana tops quilting anyday. I get to be with 5 of my grandkids next week!! Can't wait. Looking forward to the new blocks whenever you post them. :)

  10. Randy, I am all caught up and let me relish in that a bit longer!! You just enjoy your babies.....there is always something that can be worked on in the meantime!!

  11. Oh I'm away and still behind.....have your Nana time while the getting is good. Those kids are going to grow up so fast you have to have your snuggle baby time while you can this time next year you won't be able to catch her!

    Have fun!
    Happy Sewing later!!!

  12. No reason to worry about late blocks. The grandma time HAS to come first. The blocks will wait, and everyone will understand.
Thanks for sharing the spectacular quilts from the show. That DJane is certainly memorable and so unique.
