Fabulous quilt show!

This past weekend, I went to the annual P I QF quilt show near where I live. It is always a great opportunity to see fantastic quilts. This year did not disappoint!!

Let me first show you what I thought was the funniest booth!
Can you see the scissors? Vbg

This was my favorite quilt of all:
It's possible I may have seen this at another quilt show before but I just love the simplicity of it.

Then there were the absolutely amazing appliquéd quilts of Zena Thorpe, from Southern California. I have admired her work for many years and this year was totally blown away by what she did!

Can you believe the detail in each of these pieces?

I loved this log cabin quilt. I think the quilt was made as part of a block of the month. Unfortunately that picture came out a little blurry but I hope you can get the idea of the setting, which I thought was awesome.

This was another one of my favorites. I think it won a ribbon for something. It was just beautifully done.

This postage stamp quilt is more my style. So many of the quilts appeared to be just amazing and beyond what I could ever imagine doing. This one, however was one that I could actually make!

I love Hawaiian quilts and I thought this one was beautiful.

Here is another example of exceptional machine quilting.

Look at this detail! I just find it amazing that someone can create such depth with just machine quilting!

I'll post more pictures tomorrow.

  2. Thanks for the morning eye candy! I too love Zena's work. She is an inspiration for all of us "hand quilters". I've seen the "Song of the Sea" quilt a few times and am dying to see it in person. Stunning. Love the scissors head band too!
